The YMSL Ultimate GIFT BOOK

When Jim Stovall penned the award-winning novel "The Ultimate Gift" in 1991, little did he know it would catalyze a national non-profit organization to create a movement of giving. This organization, comprised of dedicated mothers and their high-school-aged sons, has created a movement fostering annual Ultimate Gift service projects that touch the lives of thousands in myriad ways.

Enter the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL), a prominent national non-profit on a mission to enhance the mother-son relationship through meaningful service. Over the course of four years in high school, this organization not only builds leadership skills but also nurtures the strengths of young men. With over 150 chapters across the nation, it has successfully brought the spirit of the Ultimate Gift to life.

Through YMSL, mothers and sons, nationwide, dedicate countless hours to philanthropic Ultimate Gifts, impacting communities in ways unimaginable to those they serve. Their selfless devotion leaves an indelible mark, transforming lives and creating a ripple effect of positive change.

The Ultimate Gift Comes to life within the hearts of Mothers and Sons at Young Men’s Service League.

"Last weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting over 200 YMSL volunteers who worked tirelessly building and staining picnic tables and benches, planting bushes, building garden beds, and filling them with soil. We are SO grateful for all the hard work completed and all the donors who gave us tools, beds, and donations to help make this possible. We are so excited for students at the school to learn and be hands-on in this new space. Thank you again for making this dream a reality!"

I believe if you help a kid in foster care and open the eyes of kids blessed like me, you change the world for the better.

- Blake “Mac” Stillman, 2023 YMSL Graduate

“In Giving the Ultimate Gift, these young men share firsthand stories showcasing the profound impact of their service, not only on the recipients but also on their own lives. The stories testify to the transformative power of giving and the reciprocal nature of service.”

- Danielle Vontz, YMSL National Team

"…By pairing sons with their moms to experience AND MEET the needs of their community, young men begin at a young age to see the growing needs of our communities beyond the bubble in which they grow up. For over 15 years, the young men and moms of the Young Men Service League have served alongside me, serving in food pantries, repairing homes for homeless moms and children, mentoring young homeless children, and providing hope to women, children, families, and neighbors."
